“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psa 139:13)
DNA was originally discovered in the late 1860s. But it wasn’t until 1953 when Watson and Crick discovered the structure of DNA, the famous double helix, that God’s pattern of our inward parts was revealed for all to see.
From identifying the body of King Richard III to Dolly the sheep, and catching criminals, DNA’s influence is everywhere in our world today.
The DNA structure inside of you is a set of instructions. A pattern that determines your eye and hair color. The shape of your ears, nose, and mouth. Everything about you. And God purposely decided each detail.
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (v. 14)
The word ‘fearfully’ here is the Hebrew word: yârê’ (yaw-ray’).
Rather than meaning ‘to be afraid,’ in the context of this passage, the word connotes being ‘in awe of,’ and ‘moral reverence.’
In a single word, we see the three-fold purpose of God for our lives.
Worship - From the crown of our head to the soles of our feet, the complexity of our bodies points to a loving Creator. Our right response is awe-inspired praise and worship.
Witness - What we do with these miraculous bodies that we've been given is important. Both in what we allow to influence us and how we influence others. Lived rightly, our lives can invoke a reverence in others for the Creator.
Works - Our bodies are much more than living organisms. Unlike other animals, we have a spirit. This spirit is a moral compass that allows us to distinguish between right and wrong. We can choose to do good or evil.
When we accept Jesus and the work He did on the cross to pay the debt of our sin, we are given a new Spirit. The Holy Spirit, who then leads us in all Truth.
Only with the help of the Holy Spirit are we able to fulfill the ultimate purpose God had in mind for us before He even formed us in our mother’s womb.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph 2:10)
The world has much to say about you. Most of it is untrue.
The only thing that matters is what God says about you. (Read Ephesians 1-2)
Reading His word trains us to hear His voice. Then when He tells you, “This is the way.”
Walk in it.
Thanks..it's a nice article..the world has indeed so many things to say about us but ultimately its what God says about us that matters. Amen. :)
What a blessing , my friend!
