Spring seems slow this year.
A few warm days, then the wind swoops down from the north and the buds shrink back. As it often does in March, the wind shifts and barrels in from the earth’s four corners, chastising everything in its path.
Only a smattering of rain and a persistent sun can coax the tender buds to reappear.
Then, overnight, everything bursts into new life!
My bible study has followed a similar pattern over the weeks since I last posted here.
I’ve been camped out in Mark 5; where Jesus sends demons into pigs, feels a touch in a crowd, and raises a little girl to life.
The immediate revelation of these miracles has been swamped by a sense that God is asking me to go deeper. Yet, like the March winds scattering the leaves across my porch, so is my train of thought.
Every time I prepare to study, a multitude of other things throng my mind, shifting my focus.
Mark tells us in verse 24 that as Jesus turned to follow Jairus back to his home, a multitude thronged Him. The Hebrew text here suggests something just short of a riot.
Yet, Jesus’ focus never wavered. Despite the chaos around Him and the urgency before Him, He still paused to heal the woman who reached out to touch His garment.
The lesson for me, and perhaps for you as well, is:
despite the inconvenient multitude,
if I stay focused on Jesus,
and wait,
He will reveal His will.
And He will show me the deeper revelation of these passages.
Shalom.

One of my favorite Bible stories—the healing of the bleeding woman. I just re-watched that episode of The Chosen and it was so moving. Have you ever watched the series? I love how it brings Jesus to life!
